Join

Whether you are a gardener, an educator, a student, or simply a butterfly enthusiast, we want to have your voice in the Butterfly Project! There are no fees to join: simply come to one of our bimonthly general meetings and sign up. If you can’t make it to one of our meetings, email us with your contact info, and we will send you regular updates about Butterfly Project initiatives and upcoming events.

Volunteer

Butterfly Project is run entirely by volunteers, so we welcome your skills and experience! We have many volunteer opportunities available: help to maintain butterfly gardens around the city; spread the word about Butterfly Project at festivals and other special events; lead workshops to introduce our Pollinator Curriculum to students and educators; or assist with social media, graphic design, or administrative tasks. Whatever your skill set, there’s a way for you to help Butterfly Project ensure that native pollinators continue to thrive in New York City. Attend our next general meeting, or email us to tell us more about your background and interests.

Donate

Your donations help to support an array of Butterfly Project initiatives, from distributing free plants to community gardeners at our annual Plant Shares, to offering low-cost workshops for teachers and educators, to developing our curriculum and other resource materials. Butterfly Project is staffed entirely by volunteers — your contributions make a difference! Please donate today.

(For a $40 donation, you will receive our Pollinator Curriculum Guide, containing eight complete lesson plans on native pollinators, as well as a full glossary, resource list, and full-color photo sheet of New York City’s most common butterflies.)
